Stephen Machin is a Fellow of the British Academy, has been President of the European Association of Labour Economists, Fellow of the Society of Labor Economists and was a member of the Low Pay Commission from 2007-14. Current research areas include: labour economics; economics of education; economics of crime; empirical and policy analysis of inequality and social mobility.

Lindsey Macmillan
Lindsey Macmillan is Professor of Economics and Director of the Centre for Education Policy and Equalising Opportunties (CEPEO) at the UCL Institute of Education. She is also a Research Fellow at Institute for Fiscal Studies. Her research considers the role of early skills, education, and labour market experience in the transmission of incomes and work across generations. She has published widely on areas relating to educational inequalities, and the role of family background in access to jobs.
